Wedding photographer in Guadalajara
Frequently asked questions for hiring a wedding photographer
At Taking Moments, we know that choosing your wedding photographer is one of the most important decisions in the process. Whether you’re planning your wedding in Guadalajara or anywhere else in Mexico, we want to help you answer your questions clearly and honestly.
Here you’ll find answers to frequently asked questions about our documentary photography services, package deals, delivery times, availability, and more. If you still have questions after reading this, we’d be happy to answer them directly!

011. How far in advance should I book your service?
Ideally, you should book 8 to 12 months before your wedding. Some dates (like spring and autumn) fill up quickly. If you already have a date, don’t wait too long to secure availability.
02What do your photography packages include?
It depends on the type of coverage you choose, but it usually includes: full coverage of the day (preparations, ceremony, party), professional editing of all photos to be delivered, digital gallery and backup, delivery of a certain number of high-resolution photos, and options for a printed album or extra sessions (pre-wedding, trash the dress).

Complete price guide →04Wedding photography outside of Guadalajara?
Yes. We document weddings throughout Mexico and abroad. We have worked in the Riviera Chapala, Puerto Vallarta, the Jalisco coast, Oaxaca, Mexico City, Nayarit, Hidalgo, and Bolivia, among other destinations. For weddings outside of Guadalajara, travel and lodging expenses are included.
05Do you take posed photos or is everything spontaneous?
Our style is documentary and natural; we prioritize capturing real moments without forcing them. However, we also dedicate a small amount of time to family or couple portraits if you wish.
06Who will take the photos of my event?
In most cases, the founding partner of Taking Moments handles the main coverage of the wedding. However, we have a team of professional photographers who have been personally trained under the same documentary, sensitive, and cinematic approach that characterizes our work. Depending on the date and package, they may be accompanied by a second photographer or, in specific cases, one of our team members may take the main coverage, always with the client’s prior authorization. What matters is that, whoever from our team you’re with, you’ll receive the same commitment, visual style, and care that distinguishes Taking Moments.
07How long does it take you to deliver the photos?
Delivery time varies, but is usually between 3 and 6 months. We take the time needed to bring out each image with narrative intention and professional detail.
08Do you have a contract and how are payments made?
Yes, we always work with a contract. It’s how we protect both you and us as suppliers. An advance payment is required upon signing, and the remainder is paid a few days before the event or as agreed.
09What happens if it rains or something goes wrong?
Adapting is part of the job. In fact, rain or the unexpected often gives us the most memorable photos. We have the experience and the equipment needed to handle any situation.
10How many photos did we receive?
We deliver between 300 and 600 photos depending on the wedding package you choose. There’s no strict limit; we simply ensure that each image tells a part of your story.
11Do you offer pre-wedding or trash the dress photo sessions?
Yes! They are beautiful experiences to connect with each other before or after the big day. You can choose special locations and make them part of your visual story.
12What sets Taking Moments apart from other photographers?
Beyond technique or equipment, our approach is human, honest, and cinematic. We care about your story, your energy, your truth. We don’t just take photos: we bear witness to the invisible, and that makes all the difference. You make the story, and we tell it.
13Can we have a preliminary meeting before hiring you?
Of course! It’s always important to get to know each other before deciding. We can schedule a video call or an in-person meeting (if you’re in Guadalajara) to answer all your questions, understand your expectations, and connect. We believe that trust between couple and photographer changes everything.
14Do you offer pre-wedding photo sessions in another city or destination?
Yes. We offer pre-wedding photo sessions in Guadalajara, anywhere in Mexico, and internationally. These sessions are a wonderful opportunity to connect before the wedding and document your story in a more relaxed setting. Travel expenses will apply if transportation is required.
15Do your prices change if it’s an intimate or civil wedding?
No. Whether it’s an intimate civil ceremony or a large celebration, the commitment and work process are exactly the same. Every story deserves to be told with the same level of attention, sensitivity, and visual storytelling, regardless of the number of guests. What we offer isn’t time, it’s presence: being there with a keen eye, ready to capture what unfolds.
16Do they edit all the photos or just some of them?
All the photos we deliver are carefully selected and edited individually. We don’t use mass editing or automatic presets. We strive to ensure that each image retains its natural essence, carefully considering the color, narrative, and visual aesthetic that characterizes Taking Moments.
17Do you work with natural light or do you use flash?
We prioritize natural light because it produces more authentic and atmospheric images. When the situation requires it — evening receptions, dimly lit indoor spaces — we use artificial lighting with the same intention: to make the image feel real, not staged.
18How do I reserve my date?
To reserve your date, you’ll sign a contract and pay a deposit. From that moment on, the date will be reserved exclusively for your wedding. We recommend booking at least 8 months in advance, especially during peak season.
19What happens if I cancel my wedding?
The deposit is non-refundable, as it covers the exclusive reservation of your date and the operating costs incurred from the moment the contract is signed. In case of cancellation or rescheduling due to duly verifiable force majeure — natural disasters, public-order contingencies, or emergencies beyond both parties’ control — the deposit is fully retained as credit in your favor, applicable to a new date within a maximum period of 18 months from the original event.
20What happens if they use lasers at my event?
If your event includes lighting equipment with laser technology — whether used by the DJ, production team, or lighting coordinator — please inform us in advance. Direct or indirect exposure of a photographic sensor to lasers causes irreversible damage to the equipment. During periods when lasers are active and pose a risk, we will withdraw from those areas to protect the equipment, without this constituting a breach of contract. We can work together to agree on alternative coverage strategies for those times.
21Can I request that my photos not be published?
Yes. Although our contract allows for the use of images for our portfolio, social media, website, and photography contests, we understand there are cases where privacy is a priority. If you’d prefer your images not be published, we can agree to this in writing before the event as part of the contract. Every situation is different, and we respect that.
